Medieval Days

Step back in time with Medieval Days (Giornate Medievali), San Marino's most enchanting summer event.

Every year, on the last weekend of July, the historic centre transforms into a vibrant medieval village, with costumed performers, flag-throwers, live music, bustling markets, traditional games and captivating re-enactments around every corner.

With nearly 30 editions behind it, the festival is a fully immersive experience for all ages. More than just a show, it's a real journey into the past.

Christmas of Wonders

Experience the magic of winter with the Christmas of Wonders (Natale delle Meraviglie), the festive tradition that turns the historic centre into a sparkling Christmas village.

From late November until 6 January, the streets light up with decorations, Christmas markets, themed attractions and entertainment for all ages. Stalls overflow with local crafts, festive treats and unique gifts.

With live shows, creative installations and family-friendly activities across the Old Town, it's much more than a market: it's a celebration that brings the whole Republic to life.

The Republic celebrates its co-patron saint and the end of Cardinal Alberoni's occupation in 1740, with a ceremony in the Old Town.

Arengo Anniversary & Militia Day

25 March

Remembering the Arengo of 1906, when the heads of every family voted to renew the Republic's institutions, with a parade of the historic military corps.

Investiture of the Captains Regent

1 April and 1 October

Twice a year the Republic's two new heads of state are sworn in at Palazzo Pubblico, with a solemn ceremony and procession through the Old Town.

Saint Marinus & Foundation Day

3 September

The national holiday celebrates the founder and the birth of the Republic in 301 AD, with ceremonies, parades and the traditional crossbow tournament.
